So from what I understand the server is currently in a closed beta. Is it safe to assume that it's getting wiped once again when the server is open to everyone?

Yes, it is. If the server weren't to be wiped that would be unfair to all the other people not in the closed beta.

Wiped already when open beta released. When beta closed, no wipe will be used.
